Goldcrest (Regulus regulus)

The Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) is Europe's smallest bird, a tiny, hyperactive passerine in the 'Kinglet family' (Regulidae). It is known for its distinctive golden crown feathers, which inspired its English and scientific names (the Latin regulus means "little king" or "prince").
